It’s a classic.
I guess. So I’m told anyway.
Unfortunately, for me, it landed on the DNF list (Did Not Finish for you noobs).
It definitely has all the makings of a classic. Short. Unique. Good dialogue. Realistic fiction.
I don’t think I even meant to buy it. I just saw it and thought it was probably time. I didn’t read it in high school.
At the time of my attempted reading, I was the parent of a six-year-old. The thought of my son on an island with the highest form of superiority being a twelve-year-old brat was enough for me to put the book down and not open it again.
It cut me too deep to continue.
I’m sure it’s good, though.
