The Bible is full of kings.

Egyptian and Babylonian. Roman and Jewish.

The judges, the seers, the prophets.

Why?

Is the Bible a book for kings?

All life long we look to these examples as if we have the same types of access that they did.

I’m not saying we don’t, but is the Bible a book for kings?

The disciples of Jesus, we’re told, were ordinary. Well, that’s a relief.

But they died brutally and without remembrance.

Are only kings are allowed an epic?

Even the ESV Study Bible scholars admit that Proverbs 8 “often happens when a society is functioning justly.”

Don’t get me started.

Just… a musing.
