The author of this poem entered a contest given only the accompanying picture, “Morning Route 23” by Joyce Polance.
Lord, poets are depressing.
This completes these poem/picture tandems, and it’s a really good one.
It rivals the previous one for best combo.
But I’m more impressed with the one liners. It definitely doesn’t flow the way I like for them to, but it is deep and painful.
My favorite line, and you don’t get context, is…
“…the way you throw your weight into a goodbye that won’t stay said.”
