The reason I started reviewing books is because I love talking about what I’ve just read, and nobody wants to hear it.

Taking a page from Rick Rubin’s book (no pun intended), I really don’t care about the audience.

My point, though, is that I don’t really recommend individual books to individual people unless I know that person well. And I know the book will connect.

It honestly doesn’t happen often.

This book… I See You’ve Called In Dead… I could have written it, first of all.

Many books have inspired me to write something similar, but I don’t think I’ve ever thought that I could have written any of them. This one, I could have written.

Second, it was recommended to me. And I can say with full confidence and certainty that there has never been another time, and never will be, where I have felt so seen in a book recommendation.

“You would love this book” has never been more true.

A practice I really intend to incorporate into my life now that the book is read, is to see people better. Not only watching them at the airport, which is something I really love to do. Not even just seeing them the way Jesus does.

But… forgive the morbidity, if that’s what it is… to see them as ones who will die.

I bet it changes things.

Wait and see.
